Thrive atelier, a SOLO exhibition of digital paintings

Blythe Thea Williams | Head Above Water

Jordan Faye Block is delighted to present BLYTHE THEA WILLIAMS’S HEAD ABOVE WATER at Thrive Atelier. Her colorful exhibition of graphic figurative works opens Friday September 27 with an Opening Reception from 6–9pm at Thrive Atelier, 302 E Federal Street 5th Floor. The multifaceted art space is open Wed. 5–7pm | Thurs. - Fri. 12–6pm & Sun. 3–6pm.

“Our world is so fast-moving, we live in a tidal wave of information. It can become extremely arduous to keep up to date and not become overwhelmed. Our relationship with our self and our mind can feel almost second to this way of living. This body of work, head above water, focuses on a struggle to stay afloat in a modern, moving world.

My overall studio practice focuses on interpersonal narratives. When we look at these relationships we tend to abstract them, fit them within pre-existing spaces. Yet each relationship is unique, resulting in a form of redaction, a partial truth. These works depict the struggle between the preconceived spaces and the messy, candid truths.“

Blythe Thea Williams is a painter and digital artist who was born in Bristol, England in 1998. She is currently studying her B.A in General Fine Arts and with a concentration in Curatorial Studies at the Maryland Insitute College of Art. She first found a love for digital art in 2017 after completing her A-level Fine Art at Bridgwater and Taunton College. In 2016, she attended pre-college at the School of the Art Institute Chicago which helped her decide to attend school in the USA. She now works and lives in Baltimore, and has been in shows across the UK and the USA, including in the Bath Fringe Festival, The Sullivan Galleries, Bridgwater Arts Center, and with Jordan Faye Block.

Curator, artist and yogi, Jordan Faye Block believes that art is an integral part of life; it changes the perspective of those who engage with it. At Jordan Faye Block, we aim to promote thought-provoking work of Baltimore artists in the heart of the city.  What was once know as Jordan Faye Contemporary is now aptly named; Jordan Faye Block.

Over the last 20 years, Ms. Block has curated hundreds of exhibitions, mentoring over 200 artists to improve their confidence, bolstering their knowledge of marketing and presentation of their work and themselves – she continues to expand this to include helping people step into their higher Self.  Jordan’s mission is two–fold; as a curator and mentor, to support her artists by curating independent exhibitions and to bring an energetic yoga practice to artists, patrons, and the curious community in her studio Thrive Atelier.

At the studio, we are fully engaged with our artists and collectors placing new works into collections, in addition providing installation and curatorial services. We also hold weekly radiant body and kundalini yoga classes.  This mission enables her clients to make beautiful change in their lives, inside and out.  She happily lives and works in Greenmount West.
